Flag weight secures to limit the flag from sliding up the flagpole on a windy day.
Use the flag counterweight at the bottom of the flag device to help keep the holder on the flag pole in case of high winds. Especially for lightweight and very large flags, the wind can roll up the flag and slide the hardware onto the flagpole. This will cause the flagpole to wear and cause the flag and hardware to become tangled. This will shorten the service life of the flag, but it does not look very good.
